Mi Caridad

Questions are asked … Is she crying? Is she playing? Is she shy? Is she embarrassed? Is she hiding? Not knowing what emotion is being represented is my favorite part of this piece. Depending on the message I feel should be brought forth, she can be positioned in different environments.
In this particular installation, the expectations of women/little girls in the household and in society are being represented. The artifacts I’ve used symbolize the pressures put on little girls to manage a household by cooking, cleaning, being involved in the spiritual foundation, and much more at a young age.
